Well we have been with Mia Rae almost 2 months and it has been an amazing adjustment to see her transition. She is really starting to come out of her shell...and we are starting to understand her needs better. She has bonded with me and my daughter well, and is really making progress with her daddy. She had surgery today to have tubes placed in her ears praying this improves her hearing and that she will feel much better also. She eats so well and sleeps most nights 12 hours....they must of warned her that I love my sleep too....Wow what a blessing this has been and it has been an amazing experience....would love to do it again someday, but we will really have to work hard on DH for that....but God worked this one out so if it is his plan HE will work it out again...

Today we signed the official "Gotcha Papers", she is ours! What a long 4 year wait for us to finally have completed our Adoption. We are so happy that Mia Rae Su La is a part of our family....this is an Amazing day "Memorial Day" this day will always have another special meaning to our family.

We became Mia Rae Su La Foster Legal Guardian today she will be officially our tomorrow on "Memorial Day". That will sure give a new meaning to Memorial Day! Mackenzie was born on "Labor Day" and that definently gave a new meaning to that. She is very quiet and shy... she has done a lot of staring at us. Looks like she wants to cry, but hasn't. How blessed we feel that God has given us her. She is just beautiful trying to post pictures having problems ...I will post more later.

Good morning everyone it is 6:00am this Sunday morning and we were told that we would get her today. I am so anxious...anxious...and nervous. As you all already know how emotional I am. Fuzhou is a very busy place and driving here I thought that we might be in a crash, but thankfully we made it...by Gods Grace though. Continue to pray for us for the transition. There is a lot or racing thoughts about what we will think, how she will react, how we will react...so nervous. I will post pictures as soon as we get back so...check back soon. Wow! is all I can say...we are leaving tomorrow for China to pick up Mia Rae Su La Foster, that is a mouthful. This doesnt even seem real we have been waiting for 4 years to adopt and it is finally going to take place. I hope I am not too old after waiting that long to take care of a 19 month old toddler....hopefully she will skip the terrible two's, Mackenzie did (maybe I have since forgotten that it has been 8 years. Well here we go...please pray and follow along.

WE HAVE OUR TA(travel approval) I can't believe I am saying this, finally after 4 years of trying. The only problem is that our flights are about $3000.00 more than we have budgeted. We haven't heard back from our grants which will be impossible because we leave next week! I am so EXCITED, but also NERVOUS. WE are asking our friends and family if they are able to help in any way to donate for our travel we would so appreciate it. If you are unable we understand, but would ask that you would pray for us while we are gone. WE leave May 28, 2010 and come back on June 11, 2010 WOW, our longest trip together, but we will leave as a family of 3 and come back as a family of 4 amazing. Today I sent our Visa's overnight just one more step in the right direction. Still no updates, very disappointing to me no news on our baby in almost 9 monhts that is unbelievable...but typical I guess. Just watching and waiting for my TA so hope I can travel with Sandy Poko"nutz", so glad to have her in my life while going through this together and I have made a wonderful friend in the process. I can't believe it we received our LOA today. We would hope to get our travel approval in 3 to 4 weeks and then go as soon as we can, and in hopes to travel with Sandy Poko. They are also adopting and we have been friends and we both endured a loss in our referrals in Vietnam. Not only are we friends, but we have been there for each other. Thanks Sandy... Our title still stands what will we name her we need to decide....so many ideas, but so uncertain will need to get busy. So much to do, her room, figuring out what I need to do next....

Finally, this morning at 10:15 am I received the email our official log in date is 3/11/10. It seemed like to took forever about a month, but this was because of the Chinese New Year....I am so excited, just one step closer to Su La. I really need to decide on her name and stick with it. Kenzie and I change it daily lol.....well we did the same thing with Mackenzie the nurse from the hospital after 3 days came in and said we need a name....she is 3 days old lol so we named her Mackenzie Renee', and that name was perfect. So I need to get busy about 4 months and we will have her. Praise the Lord....

I was just notified tonight our Dossier will go to China TOMORROW Hallejulah, we have been adopting for 4 years. I can't believe January 2006 we started this journey, and the path that God has chosen for us I feel that we are finally on it. Our baby turned 16 months old this month, just a few more months and we will finally be together. Please pray that our paperwork is processed quickly......I can't wait to post her picture....if I have any followers left keep watching for her picture.

Well tomorrow we go to have our 4th set of fingerprints taken. My husband the jokester that he is said " I didn't realize they change" lol...It is just a money thing, but I would gladly pay them the $160.00 dollars and save myself a 3.5 hour drive to Nashville, but I know it will be worth it because it is just one more step to Su La, This has been a 4 year process of adoption, but I know God is in control and I know it will be so worth it when it is finished....One step closer. Wow, on another note I can't believe Christmas is next week, I haven't even got to get in the Christmas spirit yet, working too much.....Well I know I don't post regularly but just in case I don't until 2010....MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR....to all and may you be BLESSED....

Well, tomorrow on April 5, 2009 my baby girl will be "THE BIG 1", she will turn 1 year old tomorrow and maybe never know how much she is loved. Even though there is so much uncertainty about our adoption in June 08, when we saw her face it was love at first sight. Although, I have never had any new photos, I hold these very dear to my heart and will cherish them. If we are united one day Madeline, I will make up for lost time. Dear Lord, I pray that she is safe, being taken care of, and if it doesn't work out that she will be with us that you would place her with a loving family that would take such good care of her. Amen.. Wow, I didn't know how emotional this post is to me. I have tried to remain so hopeful, and still am but days like today it is very difficult. We were notified today of something that may help our cases. I don't want to say too much just yet, but PLEASE PRAY on WEDNESDAY APRIL 1, 2009 at 10:45 AM that GOD moves. My family and these other families need your prayers. Be prayerful that doors are opened and that GOD moves for our babies. That he makes the emotional dream a reality to our families. I want to Thank everyone for all the prayers and support. I have had a really hard time dealing with what has happened to my baby. She has to suffer for something that is out of her control and mine. I have tried to process why this has happened and today with my lawyers assistance I want to try to fight this. Please, Please, if you know of other families that lost there 1st referral and was notified that they would not receive another referral I would love to talk with them. I think if we could come together and fight together maybe we can change something. "Well I Guess She Sung"

Well I guess we all know the old saying "It's not over till the fat lady sings", well she has sung today. I didn't think I would be writing this and have waited so long to be able to post pictures of my family, daughter, and etc. with our new baby that we have waited over 3 years to adopt. We received a final email from the Department of State/ US Embassy today regarding the situation with our adoption. As you know our babies orgin could not be determined so this made her ineligible for adoption, and so we have been waiting on what the next step might be in such high hopes that this might get resolved or that we would receive another referral. At 8:30 AM all hope was shattered this is bits and pieces of the letter we received;

I am writing to inform you that we have received a formal response from the Government of Vietnam concerning families like yours who are requesting a second referral to adopt a child from Vietnam. Unfortunately, the news that I must share with you today is not what any of us had hoped for.
On February 23, the US Embassy received the Ministry of Justice’s written response which stated the Government of Vietnam will permit second referrals only in cases where the child has died; the Ministry of Justice will not issue second referrals for any other cases.
Though we are disappointed with the Ministry of Justice’s decision on the question of second referrals, we understand this response to be a final one.

That is what I woke up too. I have to upmost respect and good things to say about the US Embassy in Vietnam, I feel that they really advocated for my family and kept us well informed, and they were very sincere and offered apologies that there efforts were not a success. Where to go from here. I never thought I would be in this situation, and I am sure the other families in the same situation are at a loss for words too. If you know of other families, that are in the situation we are I would love to talk with them, to see what there agency advised them to do. The discussion on agencies will be soon to come....Please pray that I will find peace, and the direction that I am intended to go.....

"Day by Day"

Well, I haven't posted in a while, that isn't unusual though. I read blogs daily, but I just haven't had it in me to post on my blog. We still have not had any resolution to our problems with our sweet Madeline. I long to hear that everything will be OK and we will be moving forward. Day by Day I pray that we will soon here the words, everything has been corrected and we are ready to move forward. All you hear is you have to be patient. I think I have, but I know there are families that have waited much longer and I really feel for them.

On a much more positive note, my beautiful daughter was in a speech contest in 4-H and won 1st place in her class and then went to compete in the County wide speech contest and in the 4th grade level she won 3rd place. I was so proud of her. She spoke about snowflakes, and she did a wonderful job. She amazes me with her strength and courage. I am very thankful that God has blessed me with her.

I will continue to pray and be faithful about the path the Lord has planned for us and wait.....

I love the Holidays. We celebrate the meaning of Christmas, and we also enjoy blessing other people that may not be as fortunate as we are. We are blessed and I am thankful. I find myself in a slump at times. We are still on pins and needles about what may end up happening with our adoption. We were told to "wait and be patient", that's not easy. I have been waiting for a very long time from the 1st day the seed was planted about adoption. How much longer? I get ask that many times a day, and all I can say is "Who knows". Well that is where we are at today. What can I do? I have no way to change anything, but I am disappointed each day not to hear any news. But I am keeping the "FAITH"... for now...

"Can't Even Imagine"

The time is just going so quickly, but as of last week it seems that time just stood still. We received news that there maybe a problem with our referral. A problem that's what I said. You would think by now that we would be preparing to travel as we were told back in June, but now the journey may come to a screeching halt. Adopting is such a wonderful, amazing experience, but the trials and heartache grow greater each day. I pray that the problems that have came up can be resolved and that we can continue our journey. I know others have had road blocks, but perseverance and faith has brought them through. I hope to hear good news and that the "child's origin" can soon be resolved. I am really disheartened that this might prevent her from being able to be united into a loving family that has waited a long time to have her in our home. I can't even imagine thinking past the part of resolution of this road block and hope and pray this can quickly be resolved.

Well it has been a while since I have written anything. I have been in that adoption slump. You know when you try to find out information, and all you ever hear is it just takes time. Well it has been about 4 1/2 months no updates, no pictures, no reassurance, nothing. This is probably a whining post, but I am with most of the other families waiting and feel a bit impatient. About a month ago I was told they would try to get updated pictures so that would make it a little easier, but still nothing. I am thankful that I am waiting for our baby, but I also would like to get news that we can file our I-600. I am still waiting to do that after 3 months of receiving the approval. Whats the hold up?

Well enough of my venting. I have had a lot going on too. Lost my Gram on Tuesday, went to PA for funeral, tough stuff for our family, a lot of tears and joy all at the same time. Difficult to think about having my birthday this year and no one to share that day with. I was born on her birthday, she be having a big party where she is at.

Well on a happy note. I can't wait for Thanksgiving, and Christmas. It is quickly sneaking up on us. I hope to have the baby to share it with. Wishing and Hoping....Till the next time

Just thought I would post a little note to say no news. That really saddens me to say this. I get ask at least 10 times a day have you still not heard anything and the answer is still no. The waiting is almost unbearable. She is 6 months already and growing daily without knowing that her family is missing the first months of her life. We will make it up to her. We have been doing some fun things around the house decorating for fall and we went to the Circus today. The kids had a lot of fun.

It is amazing how fast they grow. When we moved here M was 3 years old and now she is 9 years old. We always enjoy taking a crowd with us every where we go, my daughter loves to have friends with us. I don't know if I had mentioned we have a foreign exchange student from Vietnam. I figured this would be a great way to learn about the culture and share our culture with her. She is amazing and has taught our family a lot about Vietnamese culture. This has been an amazing journey, but it won't be complete until we are joined with our baby. Our daughter can't wait to hold her. We are blessed.

"A Name..."

I have had the title of our blog "What Will We Name Her?" for such a long time. We have changed her name so many times and I wish I new how to fix it on my blog so I would show her name centered under the title, but with a lot of time I am unable to figure this out. So I want to finally announce her name Madeline Rae Anh I am so glad to finally have a name with the beautiful little face. We have not had an update about the progress, but about 3 weeks ago I did fill out the paperwork for the I-600 so it would be in place when we received the official word to file for it. I am getting so anxious about going to get her. I do feel that it will be soon. M and Madeline will share a room while we have our exchange student in our home and M (our daughter) is so excited. This may encourage her to continue sleeping in her bed. That has taken 9 long years, but we still give in at times and let her sleep with us as a treat. I can't imagine that being a treat, but she thinks it is. I sure hope I will have good news to post and I have some pictures I would like to share also.....

"Our letter from the DIA"

We are on vacation in Florida this week and I brought my laptop so I could look at my favorite blogs each day which I am addicted to doing and we received the email from the DIA that we are officially matched with our baby. I was so excited this came just 1 day before it had been announced that in order for the US Embassy to consider the official referral you have to receive the letter from the DIA before September, 1. I am so glad that things are moving along and that we made the deadline. My heart breaks for the families that have been told that they will not be able to continue with Vietnam unless some changes are made by September 1. I know how emotional the adoption process is and how challenging it has been, but I pray for the babies that will be affected and the families that have been let down and having to follow different paths. Just remember that it is all about building a family and saving a child. We have to keep the faith....

"Our 10th Anniversary"

Well we celebrated our 10th Anniversary on July 4th. We went to a very nice restaurant Ruth Chris and watched the fireworks. My daughter was very "upset" that we were going to go without her so we let her go and really enjoyed a family night out. We spent the last part of the evening trying to think of a name for our baby girl. We received updated pictures of her and she has really filled out, bright eyed, and beautiful. We had thought about Sophie, but then when we received the updated photos I'm not so sure she looks like a Sophie. It seems harder for me this time to name the baby, with my first one I had names picked out and after 3 days of being in the hospital the nurse came in and said you have to name her now we need to fill out the paperwork. So we decided and that was the perfect name for her. I couldn't think of another name that I would have chosen for her. We also finally received the updated I-171 thank goodness. We are waiting on the paperwork to be processed and moving along in the 7 steps. As usual I'm not sure where we are at, but I know we are moving along....hopefully we will move quickly. I can't wait to meet her....

I am beyond excited. We received the call today. When the day started out not so good and ended up being wonderful. We received a referral for our baby girl. We felt like we were dreaming my daughter said "Is this for real". This has been such a long journey of ups and downs that it doesn't seem real. She is absolutely beautiful and we have been blessed. I will never forget this day. Now the waiting starts but at least we are waiting on our baby. I will continue to pray for all the others waiting I know how it feels it has been almost 2 years for us. I know it is in Gods timing and we are so forever grateful...

You know each day just drifts away no new information, can't reach anyone to find out an update the silence in the air is frightening sometimes. I still haven't given up on the idea. I often wonder how many children there are waiting and what will happen to them if the adoptions stop for another period of time. I keep trying to be positive and be very hopeful. Maybe I will have some good information soon. I can only hope. But on a good note I have been enjoying spending time with my daughter watching her swim, and getting brown as a gingersnap she has such beautiful skin. She is growing so fast and cries often when we talk about the changes in the adoption world and the what if's....she still thinks positive and that child like faith is what I need to see me through....

Well today we had our updated homestudy for the extension of the I-171 I can't believe it has been almost 18 months. Adoptions seem to take forever. The worst part is not always getting a straight answer and never feeling like you are on the same page with the Agency. I know the time is so sensitive right now and it has suddenly become more aggressive and very uncertain at this time. I have up and down days with this whole process. I'm sure that many PAP or AP can attest to that. I see all these stories about happy endings and I am hoping and praying that will be the same for me...

You know sometimes you get that little feeling inside well I have it. I have seen the Lord work in many ways lately , I feel that we will get a referral soon. Believing is the first step and knowing that God has a master plan for our lives and that He wants for us the desires of our hearts. I get so excited about getting a referral and moving ahead in this journey. I won't even let the thought of not completing even cross my mind. I know the Lord can do all things. Wow, it has been a while since I have posted. I have been in an adoption slump I guess. All these changes in Vietnam have had me a little concerned. I have tried to keep my eyes on the true source of my strength what has brought me here in the first place, the Lord. You know I know that God has his hand in this and that it will work out just as he has it planned. In the meantime, I believe he may have put something else in our path as an added bonus. While I was working at one of the Schools in came a very pleasant lady and 2 foreign exchange student one from Europe and the other girl from Vietnam which I thought was a amazing. We shared a wonderful conversation and discussed with the student about our pending adoption from Vietnam she was so excited for us and the baby. She said she has learned so much here. A long story short they are looking for host families for foreign exchange students and they have several girls from Vietnam that they are needing to place. I wanted more information about how this might fit into our current situation. What better way to learn about the Vietnamese culture and be able to develop a bond with a family in Vietnam before we travel abroad. I think this may be all part of the Masters plan. I will keep you informed and if anyone else is interested in hosting a student let me know and keep your eyes open for my referral I hope and pray that we have it real soon....

My husband took our daughter to a father daughter dinner at Grace Baptist Church. They really enjoyed the time together and he said it was amazing to have a room full of fathers sharing time and love with their daughters. I am so glad that he enjoys spending time with us and how important it is to him to take our family to Church. He is a wonderful person and we Love him very much. We sometimes forget the little things. By the way we are still waiting.... on our referral maybe in March we will be hoping and praying for that. I was looking through our papers we started talking about adoption in Nov. 2005 and started the process in Mar 2006 one thing you learn is patience...

This adoption stuff can be a rollercoaster ride. I have been waiting for the past month to find out if my Dossier was logged in Vietnam....well today I found out my packet is there and all we are waiting on now is the "Referral". Hooray!! I was so glad to hear that, I didn't have an exact date, but thats OK as long as it is there thats all that matters. God knows when we need a little pick me up. Now I need to be working on saving the money for the next step. I hope that we would get a grant... anyone know of good places to apply for grants. Anyone out there with any success. I know the Lord will provide a way but I am always open for suggestions. Any good fundraisers? I can't wait to see her picture someday soon. Doesn't it make it feel so worth the wait.... When what to my wondering eyes should appear But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here.With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray I knew in a moment this must be THE DAY!
The light of His face made me cover my head It was Jesus! returning just like He had said. And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth, I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.
In the Book of Life which He held in His handWas written the name of every saved man. He spoke not a word as He searched for my name; When He said "it's not here" my head hung in shame.
The people whose names had been written with love He gathered to take to His Father above.With those who were ready He rose without a sound.While all the rest were left standing around.
I fell to my knees, but it was too late; I had waited too long and thus sealed my fate.I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight; Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.
In the words of this poem the meaning is clear; The coming of Jesus is drawing near. There's only one life and when comes the last call We'll find that the Bible was true after all!

Sometimes you don't realize how long it has been since you made an entry. Wow, time really flys and especially around the Holidays. I enjoy reading blogs and do it daily, this has really helped when the process seems so slow and uncertain. Not really any news about where we are at in the process, I hope to hear something soon. But for now I am enjoying the Holiday. I am so Thankful for what the true meaning of Christmas is all about. How blessed we are to have Jesus the reason for the season. I know I get wrapped up in the gift buying and giving. I want traditions like reading about the Birth of Jesus to my daughter on Christmas Eve, helping families that are less fortunate, and sharing the reason for the season. We have enjoyed buying food and toys for several families. My husband and I enjoy helping others and we want to instill these principles and values in our children. I ofter wonder if our baby girl has been born, or if not what the mother to be is thinking. Making the most difficult decision of her life, something I can't even imagine. What strength it must take to endure that. I pray for all the mothers and fathers that have to make such a life changing decision.

I pray that each and every family has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. This New Year a new member will be added and I can't wait to see how God has it planned out.

"A Little Bit Older..."

Life seems to be flying by... Yesterday was my 37th birthday I can't believe it how time flys. I went to the Nortons Jewerly show with my special friend and had a wonderful day of shopping. I love to shop. I had dinner with my husband, daughter and niece at Red Lobster, seafood is one of my many favorites. When I go shopping I love to buy for my little girl and also like to look for our baby girl, but it is hard to shop because we don't know how big she will be. I can't wait to see her face, and know her Vietnamese name. We still haven't decided on her name. I think it will be easier once we can see her face. I received wonderful news of our closest friends that have been trying to get pregnant for several years a lot of ups and many downs are finally pregnant...Praise the Lord We are so happy for them. On a different note I have been reading some disturbing information about international adoption lately. It is pretty scarey to think that things might change and that maybe this adoption would'nt be able to go through, but I have turned it over to God. I have been praying from the beginning about the adoption and if it is His divine will He will see it through. Thats all we can do at this point. I enjoy reading blogs and different opinions, but I do pray for the families that have been effected that must be a terrible feeling. Well, I am getting ready for the Holiday season and looking forward to all the festivities.. I have a lot to be Thankful for.... I pray that everyone has a wonderful Thanks Giving and gets to spend time with family and friends and realize what they have to be Thankful for...

"Wow", I can't believe how long it has been since I have posted. The time just gets away from you. I guess that can be a good thing when you are waiting. You know I had previously posted that my Dossier is in Vietnam I am not sure what stage I am in. The process takes a long time and your documents start to expire so that also holds things up this process is sure confusing. I know you adoptive families know what I mean. So I am just taking one day at a time and hoping to know more answers in the future. Well anyways I wanted to post some pictures of my family.

This is my loving husband, beautiful daughter, and myself in, Stuart Florida over the summer. We went to visit family and friends in West Palm Beach, FL. We had a really nice vacation. I love spending time with my family.
I couldn't possibly leave out the other important part of our family we have 2 really loving pets

They are cute and loving always there to pick you up when you feel down. I hope to keep up with my journal better in the future. I also hope that when I post next time, I will have more information about where I am at in this whirlwind of adoption.

"In God We Trust"....

I have been wanting to start my blog for several months and it has taken me a long time to get it set up. I am so excited to finally get this started so our family and friends will be able to be a part of our adoption process. For those of you who don't know we are adopting a baby girl from Vietnam. We have been praying about this for a long while and have now taken the leap of faith. Our paperwork is in Vietnam and we are finally going to send the next payment to continue the journey. If you are in the process or already finished you know how overwhelming and exciting this can be. I have wanted more children for a long time. My husband and I have a biological daugther that is 8 years old and very excited about having a little sister to love and grow up with. We have tried for several years to have another child and went through a year of unsuccessful infertility treatments. We feel that God has planted the seed to adopt and we have been praying and seeking answers about what direction to go in. We looked into domestic and international adoption. We believe that we are being led to adopt from Vietnam. This has been a test of faith and we are excited to see what the Lord has in store for us. Please continue to follow our journey. I look forward to sharing our experience with you....
